KRISTI YOUNG
Welcome! I’m Kristi—and I’m so glad you’re here.
If you’ve followed me from Mulch and Paint, thank you for sticking with me. That blog was my first creative outlet, where I shared home décor projects, holiday magic, DIYs, and plenty of family stories along the way. As life has changed, so has my vision. With the help of my daughter Mary, I’m thrilled to be rebranding as A Young Tradition—a space where creativity, celebration, and heartfelt traditions take center stage.
So, who am I? I wear a lot of hats—wife, mom to Dylan, Mary & Trevor, Krispy to granddaughter Evie, Realtor®, decorator, gardener, planner, occasional therapist, proud list-maker, and devoted Christmas enthusiast. Life stays busy, but I try to find joy in the everyday and beauty in the simple things.
I love color (orange is my favorite), classic styles over trends, and the satisfaction of checking off a to-do list. I have a stash of home magazines that I just can’t part with, tear up every time I hear the national anthem, and I’m strangely passionate about condensation-free drinkware (sponsor me, Yeti).
I live in a brick 1940s Federal home in Georgia across the street from our first house, which we fondly nicknamed The Yellow House. Our kids were raised here, our holidays are celebrated here, and after years of renovations, it still feels perfectly imperfect. We even kept The Yellow House and recently sold it to our oldest, Dylan, and his family… we’re basically living the Everybody Loves Raymond dream.
Some of the things that bring me joy:
- A freshly cleaned house
- Cloud watching and porch swinging
- Family meals
- Hobby Lobby runs with Mary
- Sunday football (Go Falcons!)
- Yard sales, gardening, and crafting
- Christmas. All of it. Every bit. Ten trees and counting.
- Any time with family
I was a wannabe journalist, a would-be horticulturist, and eventually a History major before I became a Realtor®. Through it all, I’ve always had a passion for creating. This blog is where I channel that energy into crafts, home ideas, recipes, and stories—some old, some new.
This blog is my creative home. It’s where I share projects (some pretty, some messy), ideas for making life a little more fun, and stories from our family’s day-to-day adventures. It’s not perfect around here—but it’s meaningful. That’s what I hope to give you: a space full of heart, encouragement, and inspiration to make your own traditions, whatever they may be.
A Young Tradition is about making life meaningful in your own way. Whether it’s through a handmade wreath, a holiday tablescape, or a casserole that brings everyone to the kitchen—it’s about honoring what matters most.
I believe in gratitude, hard work, and doing things with heart. I choose joy. I choose creativity. And I’m so happy to share it all with you.
