Summer Wreaths II: Return of the Hydrangeas

Hello again friends! As promised, I am following up last week’s Summer Wreath post with a second post that features more of my wreath creations!

Above is a watermelon wreath that pulls red, pink, green, white and yellow together. I made this and sold it immediately. I am thankful that I took a photo before selling it so I could share it with you today!

Most of my wreaths for this Summer have a lot of buffalo check bows. I wasn’t a really big buffalo check fan but it works so well with all kinds of themed wreaths and acts like a neutral. The ribbon I use is very soft and flexible and doesn’t make a large bow too thick. So, for now, it’s my go-to ribbon.

On the last post, I shared a sunflower wreath similar to this one. Instead of the traditional yellow sunflowers, I used white for the new wreath.

Speaking of sunflowers, here’s another wreath featuring Summer’s tall and beautiful flowers. For this wreath, I used lime green and hot pink as accent colors. Again, buffalo check bow.

I think lime green is so underused. I love how it works with the bright yellow and pink.

I know this is not an “official” Summer wreath, but, in the South, I am not sure that college football is ever out of season. Just like some of my other creations, I chose a metal insert for the wreath. I tied two funky bows of red, white and black along with boxwood greenery (to duplicate “the hedges”) for this wreath. I should say that I tied one funky bow…I have taught my daughter, Mary, to make the funky bows and she tied one of these on this particular wreath. She was a great help tying bows for me. I honestly cannot tell you which bow she tied and which bow I tied.

In my first Summer wreath post, I showed you a blue and orange wreath with a mixed funky bow. I know there may be a few people in this world who are not as crazy about orange as me…so I simply used white flowers in this new wreath instead of the orange. It looks very welcoming on a front door.

Speaking of orange…I resisted the urge to use a pure orange and chose soft peach peonies as the center of attention on a wreath that also mixes blues and purples. It may look a little weird on my red door but it is certainly a beautiful mix of colors.

Here’s a closeup of the mixture of flowers. Just remember…it isn’t orange, it’s peach!

Here’s a larger lemon wreath I made earlier in the season. I had several requests for more of these and have taken some to the store to sell. Like pineapples, lemons are just happy and a great universal sign of hospitality. Unlike the others, I forgot to take a photo of this one and am using a photo the store used for social media. Since I am writing this post on July 4, 2020, I would like to show you my front door wreath that I’ve already shared before…my Americana wreath. I know this year has been rough for so many. Even if you haven’t felt physical or financial effects of the virus and the shutdown, I think each of us has had added stress and emotional pressures. 2020 hasn’t been what any of us bargained for when that ball dropped on midnight January 1st. W-O-W. But when I think of what others before us have had to endure to carve out the greatest nation in the world, our suffering is minimal. I am very thankful to be here today in a free country celebrating our nation’s birthday. We are so blessed and I hope that we, as a nation, do not take for granted the foresight and sacrifices made for us.
